Nepal has pleasant & predictable weather throughout the year. It can be divided in four seasons: March to May (Spring), June to August (Summer), September to November (Autumn) and December to February (Winter). Spring offers very nice weather for hiking and altitude trekking, though it could be warm to hot in lower expanse, depending to the location and chances few thunder shower. Summer passes with heavy raining. Almost 80% of total rain falls during the summer period. Autumn offers the best season around the year. Clear sky, mild temperature, blooming flowers and fantastic festival makes the season so pleasing. Winter is very chilly in the whole country including Kathmandu and gets snow falls in the higher elevation. You must need sufficient warm clothes during the winter.
Nepal can be visited in all season. Different types of activities could be done in different season. Best recommended time for tour / trekking is from March to beginning of June and September to December. However some short trekking tours can be done in the summer too. Trans Himalayan trekking like Upper Mustang, Dolpo and Nar Phu are the best option for summer time trekking. These area are beyond the rain shadow zone and very rare to have rain fall even during the monsoon time.
